My words.
As a storyteller and writer, my work weaves together reflections on forty-three years of teaching and lessons learned in motherhood. When I am not writing, I can be found needlepointing, playing with watercolors, doing chair yoga, tending to a menagerie of rescue pets and drinking very strong coffee. During Covid, I enrolled in an MFA program at Bay Path University and earned an MFA in Creative Nonfiction.
As a playwright, I have developed scripts with kids of all ages for more than four decades.
A founder and editor of Well School: the Site for Educator Story Telling, I am also a regular contributor to Bookclique. I’m proud to have studied with Joelle Fraser, Kate Hopper, Beth Kephart, Leanna Blackwell, Kate Whouley, Tommy O’Shea and Mel Allen.
Inspired by a visit by Naomi Shihab Nye to Laurel School more than a decade ago, I found my way back to writing every day. My work has appeared on the Brevity Blog, in Multiplicity, Dorothy Parker’s Ashes, the Manifest Station, Literary Mama, Mamalode, and Mutha. My NYT Tiny Love Story about our now departed Shakespeare-loving goldfish, Shark, ran a few summers ago.
My writing about schools and teaching has appeared in Independent School Magazine, on the NAIS Inspiration Blog, and in Community Works Institute Journal and in many literary journals.
I’m happy to develop scripts with your students or to tackle other writing or editing projects in your school. Would your faculty enjoy a reflective journaling PD? Co-create an experience with me to meet their needs. I am also available to teach creative writing workshops for your middle and high school students. Reach out to discuss your needs.
